Managing Reputation 101

If people have an idea that you suck as a designer or a person, they will definitely not hire you. Even if you figure out what people think of you, it can just really even be harder. It is also impossible for you to control what they think about you. Just remember that everybody would want something that is different out of their lives. Some of them will think you are arrogant as you talk confidently or loudly. Some will also dismiss you if they get just a metaphorical whiff of JavaScript.

Never ever make an effort to control how other people perceive you. No matter how good you are, there will always be one to misjudge you or misinterpret you. That is just what life really is.

What you need to do is to build a reputation that appeals much to the clients. There are tips below that can minimize negative interactions with clients. Better to interact with them positively. There will for sure more clients to like it knocking your door. The best thing to do is to learn quickly and not make the same mistakes again.

Be Honest and Direct

You need to be honest and tactful at the same time. No need to blurt out your life history. But, as much as possible, you need to be direct in your communications. Do not depend on the subtext so that it does the talking for you. Or else, people will misinterpret or misunderstand you.

Since people will often read between the lines, as they misunderstand, you cannot do something about this. There is a need, to be honest from the beginning until the end. Keep a record of your communications. And resolve any disputes and lawsuits.

Be Extra Careful Of the Promises You Make

Be extra careful of the promises and commitments that you cannot live up to. This is true when it comes to your direct communications and advertising. This can be quite difficult when your business is struggling or you are freelancing.

Although you do not know what to do unless you try, it is best to try on your own time. This is not when there are clients who pay you and are waiting. Keep in mind that a broken promise will be the worst thing to do to damage your reputation. So, you need to be careful of what you commit to.

Stick to the deadlines and pack two projects close together in the calendar. Of course, you need your brain to rest and unwind. So, take time.

Accept Your Own Mistakes

It is normal to make mistakes once you discover them. That is why you need to think of the best remedy for them. Offer a partial refund or discount when you need to. That will for sure be the last resort to settle things out. Be more than willing to smooth things over so that you can make a good start.

Advertise with Carefulness

Advertise with carefulness if you really want to make a good impression. Never ever use pop-up models. Do not blast unwanted interruptions in people’s eyeballs. Do not make people feel bad as they don’t approve of your newsletter.

Better to time your upselling properly. Do it in person especially when the client has already said that it is amazing. Always stick to the idea of advertising confidently and not consistently.

A Lot of Things Can Be Out of Control

There are a lot of things that you can be out of control. That is why you need to treat people around compassionately and kindly. Do your best work as much as possible. Some will take advantage of you, so you need to ditch them out fast.
